My mom and I have a lovely morning ritual at our family cabin in Whistler. In the Summer, we sit on the sun-drenched deck, take in the impressive view of Wedge mountain and wake-up with a coffee chat. The topic of discussion this morning: our first Sunday night story. Of all the fantastic books for children, what would be our first to share? We looked at each and both said with certainty: "Something from Nothing."

As a primary-school teacher and the mother of a toddler, I regularly discover fabulous books for kids. Growing up with a mother who was an elementary school teacher-librarian, I have always been immersed in children's literature.

Created by a BC certified elementary school teacher, specializing in physical education, and taught by certified kids yoga instructors, these after school and weekend yoga classes teach kids how to take time to slow down, breathe and feel joyful, while also developing their physical fitness.
KiddoButtons Yoga (Ages 5-9 yrs):
KiddoButtons learn a flowing sequence of animal and nature yoga poses which specifically promote kids' balance, concentration, flexibility and strength. These fitness skills compliment other extracurricular activities, such as soccer, hockey, football, dance, and gymnastics.
KiddoButtons classes engage kids in individual, partner and group yoga games with fun props, including books, balls, Pom poms, feathers, dancing ribbons, parachutes, jump ropes, yoga game boards, yoga cards etc. KiddoButtons yoga activities build self-confidence, self-esteem and self-awareness through playful movement. Meditation, breathing and mindfulness activities are introduced through yoga stories, art and games. Kids are introduced to a variety of yoga class styles, such a Yin, Restorative, Hatha Flow and Power Yoga. Yoga props, including bolsters, yoga straps, eye masks and meditation pillows are used to promote stretching and relaxation.

TweenButtons Yoga (Ages 8-12 yrs):
Yoga helps kids connect with, understand and celebrate themselves through active movement and breath. Gaining poise through a deeper understanding of themselves while connecting to their bodies is especially important as kids approach and encounter their tween years.
Our yoga classes incorporate individual, group games, and partner activities, to build self-confidence, self-esteem and self-awareness. These classes aim to give kids and young adults the tools to take these techniques from the mat to their daily lives. These skills enable them to make informed, healthy choices and deal with everyday life with ease and confidence in being themselves.
TweenButtons classes develop physical fitness through yoga poses and flow sequences, specifically focusing on balance, strength coordination and flexibility.Meditation, breathing and mindfulness activities are introduced through stories, guided meditations and yoga games. Kids are introduced to a variety of yoga class styles, such a Yin, Restorative, Hatha Flow and Power Yoga. Yoga props, including bolsters, yoga straps, eye masks and meditation pillows are used to promote stretching and relaxation.

TeenButtons Yoga (Ages 13-18 yrs):
This yoga class is specifically designed for teenagers and young adults. A variety of yoga class styles are explored through our weekly classes, all focusing on relaxation and stretching through poses and flows.
Teens are introduced to a variety of yoga class styles, such a Yin, Restorative, Hatha Flow and Power Yoga. Yoga props, including bolsters, yoga straps, eye masks and meditation pillows are used to promote stretching and relaxation.
Meditation and mindfulness techniques are explored, all at the teenage level. Come relax and rejuvenate with us! Join in any time, no prior yoga experience required.
Offered Wednesdays from 4-5pm & Saturdays from 11:45am-12:45pm
It's never too early to start playful movement classes! Our classes enable preschool children to practice healthy habits from an early age! YogaButtons classes develop children's emotional, social and physical wellness. You can book any individual class or multiple class dates (ie. weekly) every term. BabyButtons Yoga (1-2 years old with adult)
In this fun first movement class, baby with adult (parent or caregiver) will explore playful yoga and creative movement. Together we will sing, dance and move to nursery rhymes, movement songs, storybook adventures and yoga songs.
We will relax with music, feathers and bubbles, as well as get energized through movement games like scarf dancing, glow ball parties and parachute play. Adult and baby will try some partner yoga poses, like double-butterfly, down dog tunnel and happy baby! Tunnel time, shaker dancing and ball play keep babies learning about their bodies and movement in a fun and playful way.

LittleButtons Yoga (2 - 5 years old)
LittleButtons are introduced to traditional yoga poses, inspired by animals and nature. Stories and songs are used to promote imaginative play and drama through yoga movement. Kids learn to move and stretch their bodies safely while exploring age-appropriate developmental concepts such as stories, shapes, animals, patterns and colours.
LittleButtons gain a deeper understanding of their natural environment and themselves through yoga. Yoga poses and breathing exercises are introduced to kids during class to promote relaxation and develop fitness skills. LittleButtons go on storybook adventures and bring stories to life through visualization, role-play and drama.
LittleButtons flutter like butterflies, hop like frogs, curl like cats, stand rooted like trees, crawl like caterpillars and investigate the natural world through playful yoga.
Fall schedule: Mondays 10:15-11:15am, Wednesdays 10-11am, Thursdays 2:15-3:15pm, Saturdays & Sundays 9:15-10:15am (until Dec 19, 2021).
Winter schedule: Wednesdays 10:30-11:30am, Sundays 9:15-10:15am (starting Jan 5, 2022).
